Choctaw Volunteer Fire Dept

This all Volunteer Fire and rescue department has one mission and that is to provide assistance to those in need. Fire department buildings and equipment have to be maintained and kept ready for use on amoments notice. Buildings have to be maintained and heated during winter months as trucks have water tanks that must be maintained above freezing. This department serves an area of approximately 52 square miles in a rural setting. There are approximately 750 full time households in this area but grows during the summer months due to a near by corps of engineers lake and public use area. During the year there were 93 Fire department calls logged into the nfirs system.
