Chilemass emprende program:the emprende program is developed with corfo, the chilean agency for economic development, and prochile, the agency focused on chilean trade and exports. This program aims to help chilean tech entrepreneurs improve their technologies and scale-up internationally, offering online training, and opportunities to connect with the vast Chilemass network in the Massachusetts and the us. The program serves as a catalyst for the promotion of innovation and technological entrepreneurship through the strengthening of networks between Chile and massachusetts.chilemass emprende program started in 2021 with a first cohort of 55 startups, which participated in the nine-month program, starting in january and finishing in october 2021. The best 15 startups came to boston for one month stay for a boot camp at the accelerator masschallenge, and intense agenda of meetings organized by the Chilemass team. The program was renewed in 2022 with a new agreement with prochile, another agency of the chilean government in charge of trade and exports and corfo, which is still part of the program. The only changes are the number of beneficiaries- which were 48 startups in 2022 - and the extension of the program, which started in april and ended in december of 2022.
Chilemass hub program - in order to facilitate technology and knowledge transfer between chilean and american stakeholders and achieve greater self-sustenance to our organization to allow the growth of different projects, Chilemass launched the Chilemass hub at the end of 2019. Chilemass hub is a key to unleashing potential for innovation, connecting its members with the Massachusetts ecosystem. Members of the Chilemass hub -universities, companies, entrepreneurs, foundations - bring their ideas and Chilemass hub helps bring those ideas into life. These benefits include access to our exclusive network of contacts with Massachusetts universities, accelerators, companies and startups and space in our offices in boston to develop and follow up on technology scouting, innovation projects and visits. The Chilemass hub program is located in our office at the cambridge innovation center. In 2022, we have 5 paid annual members: agrosuper, sofofa hub, universidad andres bello, corporacion ciudades, and fundacion sideral. Besides the paid memberships, the Chilemass hub offered specific services to camara chilena de la construccion, universidad catolica del maule, universidad austral, and universidad catolica de Chile.
Chilemass teachers program:chilemass teachers program aims to improve english as a second language and also methodological skills of teachers in order to improve public education in Chile. The program takes into consideration that Massachusetts has the best public education in the nation and one of the best in the world, and that Chilemass, being located in boston, could be a bridge that helps bring that knowledge to Chile through the creation of a program focused on teachers to improve the educational system. Training our teachers in a second language, such as english, can help generate a bilingual mentality within the country which can be a platform for attaining our economic development goals. There is reciprocity in the exchange provided in this program, as Massachusetts is in need of native spanish teachers for its public school system. Premised on this need, in 2021 with the collaboration of framingham state university - the oldest university of educators in the us founded by horace mann - and of framingham public schools, Chilemass developed the second cohort of the Chilemass teachers program, aiming to improve second language skills of teachers and students of public-school systems in Chile and Massachusetts. Participants from Chile studied english and also serve the local school system by shadowing and participating in classroom instruction. The two aims of the project: instruction that fosters second language and social emotional learning, and creativity through science and innovation. The program also aims to improve pedagogical skills, through grad courses on education and experience in the american classroom that chilean teachers can bring back to Chile. Furthermore, the program creates a cultural exchange, enriching the experience of teachers and students in both territories. In 2022, we selected 14 teachers from Chile that participated in the program and came to boston in february 2022; some of the teachers were funded by the universidad catolica, and the rest by private educational foundations.
