Program areas at Charlottesville Community Bikes

Bike referral program & free kids' bike program directly provide free refurbished bicycles (plus helmets, lights, and locks) for adults and children (12 and under) who are in need.
Mobile repair clinicsfree bike repair clinics are held at Community events in public and low-income housing communities, helping recipients access regular bike repair services. This program welcomes people who may otherwise not feel comfortable in a bike shop setting and helps secure bicycles for students that need alternative transportation.
Refurbished bike and repair shop / workforce development collect and refurbish Bikes that would otherwise end up in the landfill. Bikes offered through the bike referral program at no cost. Other Bikes are available for sale to the general public. Repair events are held where people from various backgrounds learn new skills and connect with others. In 2022, teen job training program was launched to further promote inclusivity and accessibility in the world of biking specifically designed to empower teens from communities historically underrepresented within the cycling industry.
