Part III Program Service Accomplishments:The Cesar E Chavez March for Justice. Comprised of local community organizations, businesses, private and public schools and universities, this annual event is a day in which the community of San Antonio and Bexar County unite to pay tribute to Cesar E Chavez and to address the issues important to the community. This march is co-sponsored by the City of San Antonio and Bexar County.
Part III Program Service Accomplishments: The Jaime P. Martinez Thanksgiving in the Barrio is an event and community outreach effort to help address food insecurity that especially impacts the inner city. The targeted area for impact is in the 78207 zip code which is the poorest zip code when measuring annual income per household. Our event provides turkeys and trimmings to families identified by local churches and grass roots organizations as needing food assistance. In 2023, CECLEF provided assistance to 400 families.
Part III Program Service Accomplishments:The CECLEF Scholarship Fund awarded twenty (20)college scholarships to area high school seniors in 2023. The total amount awarded in scholarships was $25,711. While the CECLEF Scholarship Fund provides tuition assistance directly to the students college or university, our foundation also recognizes that students have been adversely impacted by the digital divide, especially in underserved communities. Hence, our program extends the opportunity for the students to receive a laptop from the awarded scholarship proceeds. Eleven(11)laptop computers were awarded to the students this year totaling $14,289. For FY 2023, $40,000 is the total amount for Scholarships awarded.
