Program areas at Latino Student Fund

Family resources access program 2011 to present the access program provides parent workshops, school fairs, and individualized consultations for students applying to independent and parochial schools for grades prek-12 in the Washington, dc area. Our organizations work in the past scholars program 1994 to present merit based tuition stipends for prek to 12th grade hispanic students attending local independent and parochial schools. The Latino Student Fund discontinued the scholars program ,students previously enrolled in the program have been grandfathered for services until they graduate from high school. The organization partnered with crimsonbridge foundation to provide scholarships to students to attend local independent and parochial schools.
Tutoring computer literacy class 2015 to present the computer literacy course provides parents tools to further their career development and allows the Latino Student Fund to provide cross program support. Offered in a partnership with byteback, the course focuses on understanding the computer, typing, emailing, document creation, as well as how to navigate the internet. English as a second language class 2005 to present the Latino Student Fund began offering esl classes for parents of tutoring students and in recent years opened the classes to members of the community. The two levels of esl classes aim to increase functional and conversational english, particularly for navigating the school environment, as well as to teach parents the methods used in the tutoring program and how to replicate them in any language at home. Listo 2010 to present listo works with 11th and 12th grade youth to prepare them academically for post secondary education and to provide them with support through the college application and financial aid process. The program includes homework assistance, college application assistance, financial literacy workshops, career counseling, and mentoring. The Latino Student Fund also hosts a college and scholarship fair and sat preparation course. Listo rapido 2010 to present listo rapido is a one week intensive summer college prep course that teaches rising 10th - 12th grade students the basics of the college admissions process. The program provides guided college research, post secondary admissions, financial aid, and financial literacy workshops, networking with college students and career professionals, a full day college visit, and a career day trip to local businesses.
