Program areas at CID
the cid school is a listening and spoken language school where children (0-12 years) who are Deaf and hard of hearing learn to listen, talk, read and succeed as they learn age appropriate academic subjects through our family center, early childhood center and primary departments. In addition, we provide pediatric audiology services to our students and alumni to maintain their hearing devices in optimal condition for listening & speaking. During our fiscal year ended august 31, 2022 we served 194 children through our school services. Grants consist of noncash scholarships off our stated tuition rate to students in both the early childhood center & primary departments. However, our stated tuition rate represents approximately 40% of the total cost to educate each child. Therefore, all of the children in our program benefit from the public support we receive. As an educational institution, the names of the scholarship recipients are not reported. for our fiscal year ended 8/31/22, 23 students received scholarship.
Cid's professional development program provides teacher training, workshops, consulting and cid-developed teaching materials for other teachers and professionals who serve children who are Deaf and hard of hearing outside of cid. During our fiscal year ended 8/31/22 we provided training and consulting to 2,305 professionals and sold 960 educational materials to schools and professionals. In addition, we served as a practicum site for 20 college students training to be either Deaf educators, audiologists or speech language pathologists.
