Casa Cornelia Law Center

Casa Cornelia Law Center (cclc) provides free Legal Services to san diego's most vulnerable residents, indigent immigrants with legitimate claims to immigration relief. We focused on 3 main areas in 2022: (1) unaccompanied children, 895 children either detained by immigration authorities or non-detained children identified in the community, (2) victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and other serious crimes, responded to 442 individuals, and (3) responded to 986 asylum seekers who have fled to the us due to persecution or torture. In 2022 cclc continued to provide Services despite the many challenges faced by its clients and a marked increase in the number of asylum seekers, many of whom were evacuated afghan individuals seeking protection. In 2022, cclc responded to 2,323 individuals (almost a 20% increase over 2021) from 78 nations speaking 67 languages. Not included in the program expenses is the significant value of volunteer Legal Services alone in the amount of 633,291.
