In July 2022-June 2023, Black In Neuro organized, facilitated and moderated one networkng social event which was held in-person in San Diego, CA (November 2022). 184 Black In Neuro members attended the event.. Expenses include booking the venue, catering travel and lodging expense for one member of black In Neuro Social Committee to attend the event in-person, insurance, gifts for attendees(enamel pins),Honoraria to speakers, ASL interpretation for accessibility and COVID-19 rapid tests. . Revenue included ticket sales. Attendees were given the option to buy a ticket or to attend the event for free.
1) Black In Neuro Week:Black in Neuro Week (BINW)is the organizations flagship program service. It is an annual, week-long virtual conference which highlights the research and work of black scholars in neuroscience-related fields, at a variety of career stages(undergraduate students to working professionals). Attendance is open to all and the target audience is scientists working in neuroscience-related fields or individuals interested in studying or working in these fields. This activity is core to BINs mission and furthers its exempt purposes as the event offers impactful educational content including panels and webinars on mentorship,professional development opportunities and training, neuroscience related research, and discussions around advocacy,outreach, and racism in science. Emphasis is also placed on building community through social events and connecting through social media.
