Program areas at Autism Works
Autism Works employment methodology includes an assessment phase and a placement phase. During the assessment phase, clients are evaluated for strengths, skills, and special interests. During that process, an assigned employment consultant spends several weeks with each client establishing vocational themes based on the assessment. Then the employment consultant and client visit businesses in the community to vet the veracity of the vocational themes, and, to further establish best fit through these initial interactions. Adjustments are made to the vocational themes and an employment plan is created. Once an employment plan is established, the employment and client move from assessment to placement. Placement consists of networking with businesses in the community, much like the assessment phase, with formal and informal job seeking activities. This process can take from a week or two to many months or even a year. For the year 2017, Autism Works provided the following: - total consumers assessment - 130+ - total consumers completing assessment - 59 - total consumers receiving jobs - 66 - total consumers holding a job for 90 days - 39 for 2017, we served 39 college students with Autism as part of our post- secondary navigation services.
