Program areas at Ashas Refuge
General Refugee Assitance: Family Services provides a wide range of refugee assistance such as mentoring to new mothers, transportation to appointments, help with navigating the medical systems, educational services, health insurance, and other community services, job search, the application process, and interview support, assistance locating and obtaining housing, home ownership training and assistance purchasing a home, and other assistance clients may need. In 2022 we served 115 clients in our Family Services Department. Immigration Services - Partnerships with several Memphis legal firms enabled us to serve over 322 clients in need helping them towards their goals of obtaining work authorizations, family reunification, US asylum approval, US permanent residency, and US naturalization.
The Next Generation program is designed for young adults with an interrupted education who are too old for high school but need a high school diploma, American life, and/or job skills to advance in life, as well as teens who are preparing for college. Participants with an interrupted education are connected to tutors and High School diploma partnering agencies that can help them towards reaching their goals of obtaining a High School and ultimately a College education.
