Aqua Foundation for Women

The Aqua Foundation for Women successfully met the needs of the lgbtq community by offering significant events such as, a family bbq to our lgbtq community. We honored three community leaders and allies at our ally awards. We provided 60,000 in scholarships to 10 students. We paired these students with mentors to ensure that their college experience would be supported by a mentor that is also a member of our community to lead and guide them to becoming future leaders. We hosted Aqua affair to honor our scholars and mentors. We also participated at community events sponsored by football unites - miami dolphins and the walk for american Foundation for suicide prevention. These events were especially important because we created a space for our scholars to participate with us to create awareness in our community. We created a new initiative called Aqua cares which brought together the lgbtq community to discuss important topics affecting the community. Lastly, we ended the year by hiring an expert in the non- profit sector to lead our board retreat. The focus of our board retreat was to create strategic plans for 2021 and to focus on the work needed to better serve our lgbtq community.
