The Corporation was formed to comply with u.s. department of housing and urban development requirements in respect to federal section 811 funding to purchase and renovate housing units in key west, Florida. Because key west is among the highest cost of housing in Florida, the need for low income disabled housing is high. Tenants are assured their rent and utilities will only be 30% of the income they receive. Generally, tenants are disabled and unable to work, so they receive social security and disability income. The Corporation's affiliate, a.h. of monroe county, inc., provides additional services to tenants to assist them in maintaining their health and quality of life.
