Youth Leadership Institute sparks the leadership of 90,000 young people to solve pressing social issues and serve communities. Its mission is to build communities that invest in youth and create positive social change. YLI implements community-based programs throughout California in the counties of Fresno, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Its three largest program areas include Civic Engagement on Youth Commissions, which works in partnership with county supervisors to give youth a voice in policy-making by providing staff, training, and coaching.
