Arts & education programs - more than 60 program offerings for pre-k through 12th graders include: 1)inspiring performances that introduce large audiences to an art form, its cultural context and its applications to school curriculum, 2)hand-on workshops in which small groups of students practice an art form with the guidance of a teaching artist in a focused environment, 3)in-depth residencies, in which a series of progressive, skill-building workshops culminates in a final student performance or project.
Expanded Arts access programming - 1)expanding horizons through music - our year long literacy-through-music residency program for homeless and severely disadvantaged children in homeless shelter preschool programs, 2)friday Arts at gardner pilot academy-our yearlong residency series of weekly 1-hour Arts workshops in multiple disciplines, which provides direct Arts instruction to the entire student body of this title i, k-8 boston public school in allston, 3)year-long latin percussion and dance residencies-weekly Arts instruction for at-risk students attending predominately hispanic boston public schools in dorchester and mission hill, 4)storieslive-our "storm slam" residency which trains at risk students to write, adapt and perform true stories from their lives for their peers.
