Young at Art museum (yaa) has been a leader in arts education in Broward county since 1989. Guided by its mission to enrich the community through artistic, interactive experiences, yaa inspires creativity and fosters an understanding of the world. In the fiscal year ending may 31, 2024, yaa continued to offer permanent exhibition galleries at its new location in the Broward mall. Highlights included wonderscapes, an early childhood development gallery inspired by alice in wonderland, and exhibits on graffiti Art and murals, emphasizing experiential learning through contemporary artists' eyes. And pablo cano eco-puppet theater exhibit, where visitors can transform recycled materials and found objects into imaginative puppets and Art pieces, showcasing endless creative possibilities. Yaa showcases innovative exhibitions by artists from south Florida and beyond, providing visitors of all ages and backgrounds with opportunities to explore their imagination and build community connections. The museum also supports local artists by offering partnerships and platforms for interactive installations paired with workshops, fostering hands-on experiences and community engagement. Dynamic installation spaces at yaa offer various art-making activities, allowing visitors to create their own masterpieces. The museum provides a welcoming environment where guests can disconnect from the digital world, embrace hands-on creativity, and discover new ways to express themselves. Yaa offers a variety of programs for kids, teens, and adults, including Art classes, art-filled parties, playdates, school field trips, classroom outreaches, and special events. Additional programs include yaa at home, sensory saturdays, and numerous outreach initiatives across south Florida. Community initiatives like artreach provide Art lessons to low-income students and families, furthering yaa's mission to make Art accessible to all. Other programs include girls empowered, a gender empowerment program through the arts at pace center for girls Broward, and artreach Art club at dillard and north fork elementary school.
