With 84 students aged 8 to 17, Yama helps develop leadership skills through music.

Yama utilizes a rigorous model of ensemble-based Music education with dual emphases on musical literacy and community building in neighborhoods with greatest barriers to accessing consistent and high quality after school opportunities. 86 students, ages 8 to 17, participated daily in programming, taught by professional teaching artists, including 2 program alumni. Yama builds musical leadership as well as academic and social skills for all young people involved, at no cost to students and families, and also offers higher education access coaching and scholarships to graduating seniors.
