Program areas at WPEO
The organization ("Wbec Ny DMV") holds educational seminars & workshops for women- owned businesses in the private sector to promote the development of equal opportunities and new markets. Each year, Wbec Ny DMV holds weekly and monthly educational seminars & workshops in the dc region serving approximately 3,500 attendees. Wbec Ny DMV also held weekly and monthly seminars/workshops in the new york region serving approximately 4,000 attendees. The organization continued to offer the sage advice program, serving 25 women in start-up and young business phases who need to learn skills around budgeting, insurance, sales and marketing, and business planning. The organization continued the amplify mastermind program for black owned busineses who need to learn skills around budgeting, insurance, sales and marketing and business planning, through a cultural lense. The organization also offered a program introducing business owners to the language of sustainability and how to document and communicate their efforts around sustainability to their business stakeholders. The organization also offered a virtual matchmaking program for business owners to meet one-on-one with corproate buyers. Also offered is a one page business plan program where business owners created a one page actionable plan for their businesses that they could share throughout their companies.
The organization participates in various public seminars and conferences by providing professional speakers to educate women- owned businesses about equal opportunities and connecting womens business enterprises with such opportunities in the private and public sectors. Outreach programs reach over 5,000 people during the year. In both territories, the regional directors also participate in other outreach programs. The organization publishes weekly and monthly bulletins to educate women-owned businesses about increasing their opportunities, circulation is approximately 4,500.
The organization certifies women-owned businesses which is intended to increase opportunities and level the playing field for women-owned businesses. In 2022, the organization processed over 3,000 applications and renewals for certification in the new york and DMV regions.
