Bctr/bccoe - breast cancer translational Research center of excellenceusing biobanking industry standards and best practices, the bctr specimens are maintained in a college of american pathologist (cap) accredited biorepository with established quality management systems that ensures sustained quality of the storied biospecimens. The facility at Windber also performs quality assurance studies on random biospecimens periodically, as of may 2001, three collection sites contribute biospecimens to the biobank and we have 161, 106 blood aliquots and 18,764 solid tissue aliquots in storage, various presentations, lectures, and conferences on breast cancer were attended. The project is ongoing.

Our bioinformaticians study to find out whether there are molecular differences between primary invasive breast tumors from young women compared to those from older women and determine whether they could potentially explain the observed outcome differences, wri has a long history of collaborating with walter reed national military medical initially focusing on the clinical breast care project (cbcp) and now expanding to pan-cancer studies and now participates in the apollo study.
