Program areas at Wildlife Habitat Federation

EDUCATION & OUTREACH: Wildlife Habitat Federation (WHF) works with like-minded organizations to achieve common goals, co-hosting education and outreach events with allied organizations to inform the public about land conservation practices, programs and benefits. On-site consultations provided landowners with technical guidance, and site evaluations were developed into conservation plans that outline a series of practices with the goal of providing measurable improvements of all natural resources present. WHF assisted landowners with enrollment in Farm Bill financial programs, participated in 18 presentations given to public and private entities, went on 115 site visits with landowners, developed 34 conservation plans affecting 24,938 acres and technical guidance was provided for 48,502 acres.
NATIVE PRAIRIE SEED PROGRAM: Harvesting of local native prairie seeds to increase seed availability to landowners in Texas. Time was invested in scouting and collection of new quality seed sources.
ON-THE-GROUND IMPLEMENTATION: Execution of improved management practices outlined in conservation plans or through technical guidance such as planned grazing, prescribed burning, invasive species control, planting of cover crops and native rangeland plantings. On-the-ground implementation impacted 27,668 acres of land in 21 Texas counties.
