Program areas at Wildlife Care Association

Our organization has been rescuing and rehabilitating wild animals for well over 40 years. Concerned citizens and government agencies bring us over 7,000 sick, orphaned, and injured animals each year including confiscated and displaced wild animals. With the help of trained staff, volunteers and local vets, WCA provides medical services to these animals. Once the animals have recovered from their injuries or illness, or have grown and learned to hunt and fend for themselves, they are released into the wild, giving them a second chance at life. We are regulated by the Federal and California Departments of Fish and Wildlife. Our work is entirely supported by donations.WCA was started as a community service organization by prominent Sacramento naturalists including MB Goodier, Effie Yeaw, and William B. Pond in 1975 and incorporated on May 18, 1978. On September 10, 1981, Wildlife Care Association became a Federal Exempt 501c(3) non-profit community service organization.
WCA has a busy schedule of educational presentations for local schools and organizations. Our education animals are an important part of these presentations. We also hold training classes for staff, interns, volunteers and members of the public. This too is supported by donations.
