Diversionary Feeding Program - In the late summer food sources for the wild horses are depleted 4 yr drought. The wild horses come down from the range and into increasingly populated neighborhoods. The diversionary feeding program helps to keep the wild horses off the streets and on the range.
Wild Horse Rescues - Wild horses live adjacent to and sometimes in areas presenting many potential needs for intervention. Wild horses who are injured or are outside of designated fenced boundaries require a trained rescue services team with proper trucks trailers and equipment. A rescued wild horse needs to be transported to an equine facility for treatment or rehabilitation or relocated to a safe location on the Virginia Range
Veterinary fees and supplies - The wild horses on the Virginia Range live in very rugged terrain with natural dangers. Their territory is also increasingly occupied by people bringing additional hazards from motor vehicles and residential fencing. Veterinary services are needed on a weekly basis along with supplies to provide rehabilitation.
