WFHB

Our main program service is the operation of WFHB-FM, a non-commercial community radio station based in Bloomington, IN. WFHB exists to provide an open forum for the exchange and discussion of ideas and issues, and to celebrate and increase the local cultural diversity. WFHB envisions a sustainable, diverse, participatory multimedia service that contributes to an entertained, informed and empowered community. WFHB's music, news and public affairs programming is available to a service area population of 161,611 via our terrestrial radio broadcast facilities, and a larger national and international audience with live streaming, archived content and podcasts via our website (WFHB.ORG), and is also distributed throught public media distribution services such as PRX. THis programming is provided twenty-four hours per day, 365 days per year. Over two thousand hours of original local news and public affairs programming is created by our volunteer base, supervised by a full-time salaried NPA director and a part-time assistant director. All of this content is broadcast and distributed by means of our FM terrestrial broadcasting channels and internet based outlets. The short- and long-term goals of this program are to provide local news and public affairs content that would not otherwise be available to our service audience, in careful alignment of our overall mission and vision statements.
