Program areas at Western South Dakota Community Action Agency
Community service block grant provides funds for medical assistance, gardens, youth recreation, personal care, and employment assistance. Department of energy provides funds for weatherization of homes. Low income energy assistance provides for furnace repair or replacement. We receive approximately 3,000 volunteer service hours (approximately 35,000 in dollar value) annually to help us provide assistance. Our programs serve approximately 5,000 to 6,000 low income individuals per year. Additionally, we administer funds from sd housing to provide rent/deposit/utility assistance.
