Westerly Area Rest Meals provides a continuum of care and service to the homeless and needy by offering affordable housing, supportive services, and helps build self-esteem towards independence. The Warm Center was invited to apply as fiscal agent for the Washington County Basic Needs Network for a grant from Rhode Island Foundation worth $50,000. The shelter program acquired Welcome House of South County's emergency shelter; housed 172 individuals during this fiscal year with a total of 7,870 bed nights. Out of those individuals, 41 exited to a positive outcome.

Program areas at Westerly Area Rest Meals

Shelter program - warm acquired welcome house of south county's emergency shelter the emergency shelter program for single individuals housed 172 individuals during this fiscal year for a total of 7,870 bed nights. Of those individuals, 41 exited to a positive housing destination, 66 exited to a temporary destination, and 16 exited to an institutional setting. Of those individuals that completed the program, 60% were able to secure full or part time employment.
Community outreach - the warm center was invited to apply as fiscal agent for the Washington county basic needs network for a grant from the rhode island foundation in the amount of $50,000 to assist the community with basic needs such as rent, utilities, and prescription medicine. As a result of this grant, other generous funders, and through warm's extensive collaboration with 30 basic needs networks partners, 324 households were stabilized (including 110 families) by the end of the fiscal year on june 30, 2022. This financial assistance prevented the further decline of these families into poverty and homelessness. Warm center was able to assist 574 individuals through community critical outreach this fiscal year.
Harvest homes - in fiscal year 2022, the harvest homes program provided housing for 11 homeless families consisting of 14 adults and 20 children. Without the resources of harvest homes, these families and individuals may have been homeless and in shelter. Of the 6 families who exited the program, 4 exited to a positive housing destination and 2 families exited to a temporary housing destination.
