Program areas at Water Education Colorado

News and publications: headwaters magazine is distributed to more than 4,000 recipients per issue, with many additional online reads. Citizen's guides, a series of desk references on a range of Water topics, provide coloradans with accurate information on Water resource issues. Fresh Water news, an independent nonpartisan news service on western Water, reaches thousands online.

Leadership programs: the Water leaders program trains 16 Water industry professionals each year in leadership skills. The Water fluency program, a comprehensive professional development course for non-water professionals, provides in-depth curriculum for 35 elected officials, city and county staff, board members, community leaders, and others.

Educational programs: in 2019, over 1,000 people attended the annual river basin tour, the sustaining Colorado watersheds conference, and other tours, workshops, webinars and trainings to gain firsthand knowledge and experience on current Water resource and Education issues, and to collaborate in an educational setting.
