Program areas at Washington Trails Association

Community & leadership development: wta believes that hiking is good for people's hearts, minds and bodies. Getting children out to explore nature has a powerful impact on their life. We are committed to reducing barriers so youth from all backgrounds can experience the power of being outside. Wta's families go hiking e-newsletter helps inspire 68,000 subscribers with tips and trips to create safe and enjoyable outdoor adventures for the whole family. In addition, wta provides training and resources to help teachers and youth leaders offer outdoor experiences in their community. In 2022, we trained more than 70 leaders and supported more than 3,000 outdoor experiences. Over the year we served 44 organizations who led 135 outings with youth and adults. Additionally, the second gear lending library based in puyallup supported more outdoor experiences in its first full year than the first year of the seattle gear library.
