Program areas at Washington County Farm Bureau
Public policy programs in order to protect & promote the agriculture industry the Washington co Farm Bureau through its structure of volunteer leaders supports public policy efforts at the local state and national level. This is accomplished through both legislative & regulatory monitoring, communications with members & public awareness programs about farming & rural life & provide information about the agriculture industry. Volunteer board members participate in sponsorship of meet the candidate activities & yearly policy meetings with their legislators to educate them about ag policy & how the industry is impacted by lawmakers.
Youth education efforts Washington County Farm Bureau holds a two day Farm tour annually at the Washington County fairgrounds where it showcases to about 1,000 fourth grade students agriculture exhibits. These exhibits give students an eye opening experience on the happenings on a Farm. These exhibits showcase the importance of agriculture and where our food and fiber comes from the Washington County Farm Bureau also sends 2 high school senior students to searcy Arkansas annually to a youth leadership conference.
Agriculture leadership activities the Washington County Farm Bureau structure of organizational leadership provides many opportunities for member leaders to keep abreast of issues that affect agriculture. Local board members attend organizational & educational meetings each month. They participate in other local agricultural & educational meetings each month. They participate in other local acricultural civic & community organizations. Leaders attend district state & national conferences to network with farmers & other agriculturalists to learn about current issues facing agriculture. A highly developed committee structure provides leadership opportunities for members through meetings, regular communications and agriculture activities.
