Early care and education: through a funders collaborative model we work to ensure gender, race, culture, religion, class, and the ability to access early education systems in the Washington, dc region. The collaborative is committed to and invests in projects that improve early childhood systems and infrastructure; ensure families have access to early education programs; and help early childhood educators to effectively meet the needs of all children.
Young Women's initiative: we make investments in the district of columbia to dismantle racist and sexist systems that harm young women and gender-expansive youth of color. Through leadership development, advocacy, and direct support to organizations, we aim to reduce systemic and institutional barriers to success and enhance the opportunity for young women of color to reach their full potential. Our strategy is to center the experiences and voices of young women and girls of color to effect positive and lasting change in their communities putting young people at the helm of advancing solutions to the problems they encounter in their lives and communities.
Educate: we invest in the power of women and girls of color in the Washington, dc region. We open doors to opportunity, safety, and security through grantmaking and advocacy. We work to create economic opportunities that have a positive ripple effect across society and open doors to progress. Through our work we have helped over 16,000 women increase their income and assets by $53 million through higher wages, decreased debt, and increased savings.
