Program areas at Art Spark Texas

Community Arts provided workshops, classes, and opportunities to artists with disabilities to sell their work at local and statewide events. In 2023/24, we offered in-person exhibits and classes at our office/studio location, while still providing some visual art and writing classes and workshops virtually. Approximately 2,000 emerging and professional artists were offered professional development services and technical assistance in visual art, performance, creative writing, dance, and media production. Art Spark Dance hosted a series of SME task force committee meetings in preparation for the National Dance Educators Convening in October 2024.We continued with the East Austin Galley Tour to host monthly exhibitions, and joined the East Austin Studio Tour to showcase the work of six artists. Launched third season of True Tales by Disability Advocates podcast featuring stories by people with disabilities, with over 3,700 downloads. The Texas Veterans Strong program continues to serve over 700 veterans by offering multi-arts in person retreats and virtual classes across the state, and in September, we hosted a week-long residency with Drew Mattot and the Peace Paper Project. We presented the 14th Annual Distinguished Artist Veteran exhibition in Wichita Falls, Texas, and offered fiscal and administrative support to Tubu Fest, a three-day disability theater festival of new work by disabled playwrights.
