Program areas at Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance
The Action Alliance provides training, technical assistance and a variety of resources to support our member Sexual and Domestic Violence agencies accross the commonwealth, as well as allied professionals seeking to provide an effective response to Sexual and Domestic Violence. These services include basic and advanced training for professionals, customized technical assistance to build the capacity of agencies and communities, operation of a data collection system that describes the services provided by sdvas and measures the outcomes of those services, and the development and distribution of resources that support an effective response to Sexual and Domestic Violence.
In addition to providing training, technical assistance and resources to the prevention programming within our member agencies, the Action Alliance partners with statewide groups and with communities to plan and implement effective prevention education campaigns and activities. Prevention initiatives also include partnerships designed to address root causes of Sexual and Domestic Violence.
The Action Alliance operates a 24-hour statewide toll-free hotline (phone/chat/text) for survivors of Sexual and intimate partner Violence as well as an lgbtq helpline that responds to Sexual Violence, intimate partner Violence and other forms of Violence and harassment perpetrated against members of the lgbtqia+ community, including hate Violence. The Action Alliance also contracts with the Virginia department of corrections to provide a confidential phone line for individuals in state correctional facilities who have been impacted by Sexual Violence, a partnership that is considered a best practice for compliance with the prison rape elimination act.
