Program areas at Virginia Grain Producers Association
Agricultural events and education 2022 ag expo: vgpa partnered with other commodity groups to host the 2022 Virginia agricultural expo august 4, 2022 at the mill creek farms @ camden in caroline county. More than 2,000 farmers, agricultural professionals and interested parties experienced field plot and soil pit tours as well as other industry related events. The event provides an opportunity for farmers to learn more about the up-to-date farm equipment and technology for today's precision agriculture operations. 2023 annual conference: Producers and agricultural industry professionals participated in the annual conference held february 2023 at creamfield farm in mechanicsville, va. The program included keynote speakers and concurrent breakout sessions covering a wide range of topics facing the agriculture industry. 2023 small grains field day: vgpa, in cooperation with the Virginia cooperative extension and the Virginia small grains checkoff board, hosted the 2023 Virginia small grains field day on may 18, 2023 at the eastern Virginia agricultural research extension center in warsaw, va. This educational event featured a full field tour, slate of speakers based on suggestions from the board and membership and a small exhibit show. This event continues to attract new and experienced Producers, as well as industry and state leaders, who are interested in learning more about extension research and the wheat and barley breeding program.
Promotions and communciations vgpa works unilaterally and in conjunction with other organizations to promote corn and small grains. Specifically, vgpa: 1) maintains a website and engages via social media tools to serve as a resource for Producers, industry, end users, media consumers and elected and government officials; 2) publishes and distributes "vgpa news and updates- and 3) supports initiatives to educate consumers on corn and small Grain Producers and Virginia's agriculture industry as a whole.
Promotion and education in schools and industry events vgpa serves as an information resource to provide a voice for va Grain Producers and associated industries, to promote the industry. Vgpa provides grain-based products and promotional materials to school and industry partners during educational, trade, and other events across the commonwealth, including the 2022 Virginia state fair. Vgpa provides educational materials to classrooms, field days and local activities across the commonwealth. Vgpa works to promote positive trade opportunities for all Virginia grains in national and international markets.
