Program areas at Urban Association of Forestry and Fire Professionals

In 2022, the Urban Association of Forestry and Fire Professionals (also known as the Forestry and Fire recruitment program "ffrp") led in-reach and career planning in californias conservation camps ("Fire camps"). These camps host thousands of currently incarcerated men and women who are helping fight wildfires across the state. Ffrp provides information and career transition support to Fire camp residents to prepare them for reentry and help them access careers in Forestry and firefighting. In 2022, ffrp ran two primary reentry services: 1) the ffrp hub, which offers resume preparation, career counseling, training and credentialing, and transitional support to men and women returning from Fire camp; and 2) ffrps pre-apprenticeship program, which provided paid transitional employment for participants entering Forestry and Fire careers. These programs served over 100 people and ffrp placed several dozen men and women in full-time Fire careers during the course of the year.
