Program areas at URMIA
URMIAs business model reverted back to pre-pandemic style of delivery and we held in person events in 2022. We partnered with other associations to share hotel space and contracts. We also continued to offer many virtual programs, our webinars in 2022 included our Best of Annual Conference webinar series that continues to be popular. 70 of those registered are attending live. We upgraded our technology and are using a new library interface. This helped us display recorded events better and having members access them in higher numbers. Library views and recordings continue to show that webinar recordings are a valuable resource. We also continue our podcast URMIAmatters Season 3, weve added self-produced, zero additional cost, dynamic content around our main episodes as promotion for conferences. URMIA hosted five regional conferences in 2022 in the spring. Locations included Atlanta, Chicago, Raleigh, Boston and Denver.

Highlights from the 53rd Annual Conference included general sessions on perseverance by Sheldon Yellen, CEO of BELFOR, Title IX 50th Anniversary, Presidents Panel, and URMIAs Leadership Transition. Many attendees report the most valuable part is meeting other risk management professionals. A conference scholarship recipient shared... the annual conference was incredibly valuable on many fronts, but the most impactful for them was the feeling of becoming a part of the URMIA community. It was a conference unlike any Ive ever been to before. Everyone was so friendly, engaging, and approachable. It made it easy to feel like yourre really a part of something larger than yourself or your institution, and that you arent alone in your struggles or the situations you face in university risk management. This experience gave me more confidence in my new role as a solo risk manager.
