Amidst textbooks and lectures, students complete internships, clinical rotations, and pre-professional experiences effectively applying course material to everyday situations and gaining experience that will help them rise above stiff competition in the job market.as an ncaa division iii school, the University of Saint Joseph hosts 14 varsity teams, in addition to intramurals and numerous recreation and wellness programs. The University is a member of the national collegiate athletic association (ncaa) and the great northeast athletic conference (gnac).the 90-acre suburban campus in prestigious west hartford, Connecticut is known among colleges for its aesthetics and prime location: a few miles from major hartford employers or entertainment and shopping in blue back square, and midway between boston and new york city.in addition to the undergraduate college, the University of Saint Joseph has a graduate and professional studies program offering master's degrees and certificates, a weekend program serving adult learners pursuing their baccalaureate degrees, a doctor of nursing practice program and a school of pharmacy. The school of pharmacy is located in downtown hartford, Connecticut, and offers a unique three-calendar-year doctoral degree (pharm.d.) Program in pharmacy.in 2016, usj announced that its new physician assistant (pa) program was granted accreditation-provisional status by the accreditation review commission on education for the physician assistant (arc-pa). This accreditation - the first in a multi-step accreditation process - allowed usj to enroll the inaugural class of its pa program in january 2017. Usj's pa program is a 28-month, coeducational program focusing on collaborative approaches to patient-centered care that enhances treatment plans and can improve outcomes in a changing and evolving healthcare environment.

The gengras center is a state-approved private special education facility that provides highly structured, intensive and self-contained special education programs for elementary, middle and high school students. In 2021 it served 133 students from surrounding communities. At the center, University of Saint Joseph students fulfill required classes in the fields of special education, nursing, social work, counseling, and nutrition.the school for young children is a nationally-accredited preschool which has been serving children since 1936; in 2021 it enrolled 84 students. It serves as a training program for University students pursuing careers in early childhood education and related fields.
