Resident teaching & graduate Medical education programs: University Medical Center New Orleans (umcno) is the state of Louisiana's largest teaching hospital and a major training site for both lsu and tulane University schools of medicine, as well lsu schools of dentistry, nursing and allied health. Community health services and community benefit operations provide free health education programs and screenings to the community. These programs are designed to focus on some of the most prevalent diseases in the New Orleans community, such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Additionally, University Medical Center is partnered with walgreens and avita drugs to dispense medications under the 340(b) pricing program to ensure patients have access to necessary pharmaceuticals that may otherwise not be available to them.
