Program areas at United Way of Sheboygan County
Each gift to United Way is combined with those from thousands of donors and invested directly into initiatives and programs that benefit the entire community, not just one program, issue, or population. Thanks to your support the community action fund was able to financially invest in three community impact initiatives and 40 programs facilitated by 24 different local nonprofit agencies referenced in our 990 and annual report. The three community impact initiatives United Way invests in are the volunteer center of Sheboygan County, providing access to healing (path), and Sheboygan County community partnership for children (cpc). Sheboygan County community partnership for children (cpc) is a birth-to-six initiative focused on parent/caregiver support, child development, and kindergarten readiness. The vision of the cpc is that all Sheboygan County children are safe, healthy and prepared to grow, learn and achieve. The welcome baby program, development screeninginitiative, and parent cafe workshops are the current focus of cpc. Providing access to healing (path) is a school-based mental health programthat helps create increased access to services for youth by removingfinancial and geographical barriers for mental health therapy services. Students experience: improved academic performance and social functioning, reduced suspensions, detentions, unexcused absences, and depression/anxiety symptoms and have significant progress towards treatment goals. The volunteer center of Sheboygan County supports the nonprofit sector through providing relationship building with individual and corporate volunteers. This includes an annual day of caring where hundreds of volunteers deploy to projects throughout the County as well as volunteer resource fairs and radio spots. This initiative also hosts the annual spirit awards to celebrate volunteerism in Sheboygan County. Additional support is also provided and open to all local nonprofits that consist of networking opportunities (volunteer center network and Sheboygan County nonprofit resource network) and continuous learning professional development opportunities. Financially small mini grants are also available for local nonprofits to apply for special projects, emergency grants for unexpected crisis a nonprofit may be facing, and day of caring project sites.
