United Way of Larimer County transforms communities so everyone thrives by distributing funds as grants to direct service nonprofits, meeting essential needs through UWLC Basic Needs Grants and Seasonal Overflow Shelter Funding, and utilizing Colorado Childcare Contribution Tax Credit Funds. Additionally, United Way of Larimer County operates a free, multi-language, confidential 211 Information and Resource Navigation Program that connects thousands of local residents to more than 7,500 community resources statewide, such as housing or utilities assistance.

Program areas at United Way of Larimer County

United Way of Larimer County directs funding and resources to local nonprofit organizations supporting communities experiencing the greatest disparities across our priority area of youth & education, financial stability, community engagement and nonprofit excellence. Over $1.6 million was distributed to support childcare affordability, literacy and academic success, disaster response including ongoing wildfire mitigation, housing and homelessness, and a more effective and equitable nonprofit and social sector. In addition to grant funding and trainings, uwlc supported approximately $289,000 in volunteer hours to 38 agencies across the County this year.
In addition to externally directed dollars, United Way of Larimer County also manages four significant internal programs: the 211-resource navigation program, Colorado reading corps, women give, and the Larimer child care fund. In 2021-2022, 211 resource navigators made 7,850 referrals for Larimer County residents to support access with essential needs and services; 375 students received tutoring and literacy supports through reading corps during the academic year across two school districts and between 77% and 85% of participants exceeded their target growth rate in the academic year; and 73 children in 58 unique families received childcare scholarships to attend high quality, licensed programs this year.
United Way of Larimer County responsibility fulfills donor intent, including donations that are designated to nonprofit agencies other than United Way of Larimer County. United Way of Larimer County processed over $1.6 million in donor designations, distributing funds to hundreds of nonprofit agencies across the country. United Way verifies that each agency is eligible to receive charitable donations in compliance with the usa patriot act and other counterterrorism laws.
