Increase Real Food Access: Conduct REAL Certification of food service operations within K-12 school districts. REAL Certification evaluates food service operations across a series of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as nutritional content of food and beverages served, preparation methods, portion sizes, and sources of foods. Provide recommendations re: how to improve the menu options and evaluate updates made.
Increase Real Food Awareness: Provide consumer educational information through Eat REAL digital materials, in person meetings/presentations, and virtual meetings/presentations. Provide educational resources to inform consumers and food service professionals re: nutrition and sustainability through www.eatreal.org, newsletters, and social media platforms. Develop and educate on clear set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) regarding nutrition and environmental sustainability within food service.
Research and develop standards and tools to evaluate nutrition and environmental sustainability of food service programs; incorporate scientific evidence and advisory to increase positive outcomes; design, implement, and share impact measurement to increase overall understanding of efficacy of organizational efforts.
