Program areas at UMR
Health: During late 2022 UMR has allocated 10 IHEK to Somalia. However due to shipment delays the results will be measured in 2023 the shipment was transferred to Southern Turkey for the Earthquake 2023 response, aiding around 100,000 individuals.Additionally, health and nutrition programs in Kenya, Lebanon, Jordan, and Gaza supported vulnerable groups such as orphans, women, the elderly, and patients with chronic diseases. Notable was the collaboration with Mr Beast for vision restoration projects, enhancing the well-being of many.
Advocacy and capacity building: UMR's advocacy efforts were primarily focused in the MENA region, with significant activities in Jordan. This included hosting a regional workshop engaging Syrian civil society organizations, with participation from over 75 organizations. These efforts discussed the future of Syrian people and the diaspora's role, marking a substantial effort in regional community empowerment and collaboration. UMR has trained the students of the three of UMR universities in Emergency prapdesdress in Texas.
Food Security: UMR's food distribution programs in 2022 reached over 13,831 individuals across oPT (Gaza), Lebanon, Jordan, Kenya, Somalia, Yemen, Bangladesh, and the USA. These programs focused on the most vulnerable, including women-headed and children households, those with disabilities, latino-background refugees and Afghan refugees and people with chronic diseases. The support was critical in stabilizing communities affected by poverty and crisis.
WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene): UMR's WASH achievements were notable in Pakistan, Somalia, and Bangladesh, where they improved public health and hygiene for over 57,800 individuals. This included the construction of 30 water wells in Pakistan, 4 in Somalia, and deep water wells in 32 locations in Bangladesh, along with water quality testing and the establishment of water management committees.
Emergency Response: UMR's emergency response addressed the urgent needs of 23,923 persons in various crisis situations across Bangladesh, Pakistan, oPT Gaza, and the USA, including the Northeastern states and Texas. The response included providing essentials like food, clean water, emergency medicine, hygiene items, and winter clothes, with collaborative efforts enhancing the impact.
