SUSTAINABLE PEACE KenyaMore than 140 women in Kisumu, Kenya, graduated from an Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Program where they learned how to manage HIV and respond to violence, abuse, oppression, and discrimination. These women are now embracing their value as human beings by supporting each other as entrepreneurs and launching 20 new businesses in their local communities.
HUMANITARIAN PROGRAMHope For Venezuelan Refugees in Colombia U4Cs emergency humanitarian effort created a response to food insecurity by preparing 938,464 hot meals and 10,522 Soup meals for Venezuelan refugees, migrants, and walkers, caminantes. The project provided locally produced commodities to the selected food distribution centers & shelters, cooking and distributing meals to this migrant population in the CĂșcuta-Pamplona humanitarian route.
HUMANITARIAN PROGRAMUkraineU4C provided critically needed support to victims of war in Ukraine through an innovative partnership with the private sector, facilitating humanitarian aid to finance initiatives by volunteers who are bravely delivering aid to remote areas not typically covered by large humanitarian aid channels. This Humanitarian Fund aims to provide supplies for war victims fundamental needs: access to healthcare, shelter, food, education, clean water and electricity/heat, and post-trauma support.
Service Abroad Kenya10 U4C volunteers traveled to Kenya to work with the Support Help groups and implement health campaigns door-to-door for women and families infected and affected by HIV in the slums of Kisumu.
SUSTAINABLE PEACE Bolivia Programa Internacional de Paz en Bolivia 2021 (International Peace Program in Bolivia 2021) educated, equipped, and engaged 91 university students as peacebuilders in Bolivia, one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, through a unique peace education program with the participation of 26 trainers/facilitators. U4C and partners provided high-quality and intensive instruction and virtual discussions with instructors, facilitators, experts, and guides who mentored the participants in designing and implementing ten peace projects that ultimately benefited 300 people in local neighborhoods.
Fair TradeU4C collaborates with women entrepreneurs and artisans in Nepal, Kenya, Tanzania, Colombia, and Bolivia by purchasing and selling their distinct hand-crafted apparel and accessories, thereby increasing their economic empowerment, business skills, and support of entire families.
TRAINING & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTU4C undertook a collaborative design and planning with partners in Argentina, strengthening the leadership of young people from Aboriginal communities of Northern Argentina (Jujuy) to promote the co-creation of life projects and sustainable economic development. Our services added value and mobilized community members socially, culturally, environmentally, and economically to 9 aboriginal communities in northern Argentina through the empowerment of 22 young people who live and work in these communities.U4C also started an exploration phase in Guatemala with its local partner to empower women leaders indigenous in Aldea San Jos Parrojas Parramos Chimaltenango.
