Program areas at TBMS

Tuition bearing music instruction (individual and group instruction) -at the core of turtle bay music school's curriculum, we offer individual instruction and group classes for children, teens and adults in more than 20 instruments and voice. These classes span across multiple disciplines and genres, including classical, jazz and world music. Serving 600 students at our east midtown facility each year, we pride ourselves in creating a fulfilling music-making experience for everyone who walks through our doors. In addition to music instruction, we encourage students of all ages to take part in performance opportunities, master classes, and enriching free concerts and events.

Community concerts and family programs turtle bay music school is pleased to present more than 50 free concerts, masterclasses, and family music events to more than 2,000 new yorkers each year. The cornerstone of our concert programs is our artist series. Artist series concerts are twice-monthly performances by tbms faculty members. They take place every other friday evening at 7pm in tbmss em lee concert hall. These concerts are always free and open to the public, and are followed by receptions where audience members can meet the performers. In fy17, tbms offered 15 artist series concerts.

Public School Outreach Programs - Turtle Bay Music School's Public School Outreach Programs serve over 2,000 children and families in seven public schools. Grades range from Pre-K through 5th Grade. These programs include:PS 20 (LES): Pre-K - 24 weeks of Creative Movement and Music, Kindergarten - 24 weeks of Brazilian Percussion and Dance, First Grade - 16 weeks of Colombian Music, Dance, and Culture, Second Grade - 12 weeks of World MusicPS 267 (Upper East Side): Kindergarten and First Grade - 28 weeks of Orff Ensemble, Second Grade - 12 weeks Orff Ensemble and 12 weeks of Columbian Music, Dance and Culture. Third Grade - 15 weeks of Recorder Ensemble and 9 weeks of African Drumming and Dance.
