Higher Education: Operation of a Private University: This category includes expenditures for all activities that are part of the institutions instruction program. Expenditures for credit and non-credit courses, for academic, occupational, and vocational instruction and for regular, special and extended sessions are included. The instruction program encompasses 13,602 students participating in undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs in the fields of liberal arts, science and engineering, architecture, business, law, social work, medicine and public health and tropical medicine. Also included in this category are all forms of student aid and expenditures for the education and support of students.

Higher Education: Organized Research: This category includes all expenditures for all activities that are part of the university's research program, which includes activities specifically organized to produce research outcomes, whether commissioned by an agency external to the institution or separately budgeted by an organizational unit within the institution. Subject to those conditions, it includes expenditures for individual and/or project research as well as those of institutes and research centers (over 1,000 Federal and State awards).
