Program areas at ASCSA

Instructional and Student Services: The School is a non-degree granting overseas research institution with a 9-month program of study for approximately 20 graduate-level students an independent study facility for over 80 post-graduate scholars one 6-week summer program for about 20 students and teachers and two 3-week summer programs with approximately 15 students in each. In addition there are study trips made available to students and visiting scholars. The School maintains approximately 4 full-year faculty on site each year.
Publication and Libraries: The American School maintains and operates two research libraries holding about 268,000 volumes in total. The Blegen Library has one of the most complete collections in the world for research in the civilization of ancient Greece. The Gennadius Library houses both volumes and electronic resources which comprise one of the most significant collections for the study of Hellenic civilization after the end of antiquity. The School publishes scholarly research in the form of books 3-5 volumes per year and a quarterly journal.
Excavations: The School maintains two year-round excavation sites in the Athenian Agora and at Ancient Corinth. In the spring approximately 20 students take part in three 4-week excavation sessions at Corinth and during the summer approximately 40 students take part in an 8-week excavation season at the Agora. Both excavations maintain archaeological collections which are overseen by the Greek Archaeological Service.
