Performance & touring - the Company performs Brown's choreography in our home base of new york city, and on tour across the us and overseas. The Company performed "Trisha Brown: in plain site" in reston, va; ridgefield, ct; and yonkers, ny. Following the 50th anniversary joyce season, the Company toured to antwerp, belgium; angers, france; leuven, belgium; nmes, france; spoleto, italy; and tel aviv, israel. Additionally, Company dancers performed "set and reset: a view from the archive" at the mark morris Dance center and in "revue" by madeline hollander as part of the performa festival.
Production - the Company reconstructs masterworks from Brown's extensive repertory and builds them into curated programs for presentations in our home base of new york city as well as on tour. During fy22, we reconstructed "foray fort" (1990) and "astral converted" (1991) in celebration of the Company's 50th anniversary. These works Brown created with longtime collaborator robert rauschenberg. The Company's reconstruction process is informed by extensive documentation in our archival collections and benefits greatly from the participation of an extensive network of tbdc alumni and some of Brown's original collaborators
Education & licensing - the Company conducts Dance training in new york and teaching residencies at major universities and academies in the us and abroad. The education department also manages licensing for Brown's works, disseminating her choreography by setting works on other professional companies. During fy22, nyc training activities were adapted for virtual and live engagement - weekly classes hosted by movement research plus winter & summer intensives all had participants from around the world. Through virtual and in-person projects, Company instructors had education projects at csu fullerton, fullerton, ca; calarts, valencia, ca; university of north carolina, winston-salem, nc; the julliard school, new york, ny; yale, new haven, ct; tisch school of the arts, new york, ny; sarah lawrence college, bronxville, ny; la manufacture, lausanne, switzerland; ballet rambert, london, england; conservatoire de paris, paris, france; ballet de lorraine, nancy, france; p.a.r.t.s., brussels, belgium; and angers, france.
Archive - since 2009, the Company has undertaken extensive work on our archival holdings, cataloging and preserving thousands of videos, films, and other documentary items. The Trisha Brown archives have now been placed at the new york public library for the performing arts, the walker art center, the museum of modern art and the tate modern. By placing the archive in this way, we hope to ensure public and scholarly access to this rich collection, and to see these holdings become the source materials for a broad range of expositions, multi-media displays, and other programs that allow people to experience Trisha Brown's creativity in different ways.
