Program areas at Tradition and Transition Fund

In 2023 we conducted four one-week workshops to train younger magistrates in custom and learn more about past customs from older magistrates. A set of power point presentations was developed for training in customary law and a draft of a guide to customary law. Financial contributions by the Tradition and Transition Fund were matched by the enga provincial government. All contributions to training programs were delivered through the enga cultural development association.in 2023 we overcame a major barrier in cultural education: the national department of education and unesco have finally agreed to approve our program in cultural education as mandatory for grades k6 to 12. A new curriculum and syllabus was prepared for the program in cooperation with the national department of education. T&t funding for 2024 will be for cultural education to produce syllabus booklets and revised copies of teacher's guides as well as support for in-service trainings for the teachers.
