The organization was formed as a state licensed Health maintenance organization to provide medical services to persons primarily in southeastern Michigan who subscribe as part of an employer group or as individuals. The organization's individual and group hmo/pos products were withdrawn from the market effective december 31, 2021 for individual and small group and upon renewal for large group beginning with august 2021 renewals. Employers were offered a similar plan from priority Health (a related exempt organization) via guaranteed renewability rules. Individual members were able to renew into a priority Health plan on january 1, 2022. As of january 1, 2022, the organization ceased to operate as an active hmo but retained its license. The organization will retain adequate cash and investments to manage the run-out of its medicaid business until final dissolution is approved by the Michigan department of insurance and financial services.
