Recognizing that The Woodlands area is The second largest medical center outside The Texas medical center, The members of The Rotary Club of The Woodlands created Rotary house The Woodlands, a separate 501c3. The goal is to offer 3 fully furnished apartments for up to 90 days to financially limited patients and/or family members of patients receiving care and treatment at one of The local health facilities and live over 25 miles from The facility. Families have come for care of premature babies, cancer treatment, trauma care and rehabilitation. They come from all over Texas - huntsville, bishop, dallas, college station, beaumont - and The united states - Maine, Florida, and Louisiana. The cost is a flat cleaning fee of $130 regardless of The length of stay. For families who have shorter stays, Rotary house has a contract with homewood suited to underwrite The cost to stay there. The members of The Rotary Club of The Woodlands underwrite The cost of these housing options.
