Program areas at The Unusual Suspects Theatre Company
The Organization now offers five intensive theatre-arts residency programs, including preventative theatre-arts education programs delivered in-class and after-school to Title 1 students, as well as to intergenerational groups of local families, and innovative intervention residencies for justice-system-engaged minors; a sixth program to provide isolated Los Angelenos with access to professional theatre experiences; as well as ongoing professional development services that amplify the Organizations healing-informed approach by cross-training educators, Probation Officers, and other youth-serving organizations. The Organizations suite of programs reached over 1,600 Los Angelenos in pre-pandemic years and still managed to serve nearly 1,000 annually during the pandemic (93% ages 9-19, 98% Black Indigenous and/or People of Color).
