Program areas at The Staten Island Museum
Collections & exhibitions - the current Museum collection ranges from all types of objects and artifacts related to science, art, archaeology, history, and the environment of Staten Island. Over 2 million objects, art works, archival documents, photographs, books, and specimens are held in this collection for all visitors to learn about, research, and enjoy.
Visitor services - the front line of contact with the public, visitor services creates a welcoming and informed experience for the visitor, communicating with the public about the Museum and it's programs as well as local cultural points of interest. They provides a range of client services with a focus on visitor needs to maximize their visit to the Museum and Staten Island in general.
Public programs and education - since 1907, the Museum has offered a wide variety of classes, exhibitions, and research programs. Approximately 15,000 school children attended these programs to learn about art, natural science, and the cultural environment and history of s.i.
