Building community: Silicon Valley turkey due to The ongoing global pandemic The annual applied materials Silicon Valley turkey trot was forced to pivot to a virtual format in both 2020 & 2021. In 2022 we were able to return with an in-person community/charity 5k, 10k, and kid's fun run that drew 17,000 participants contributing approximately $400,000 to four local charities: second harvest Silicon Valley, housing trust Silicon Valley, The health trust, healthier kids Foundation, and second harvest food bank santa cruz.
Building community: Silicon Valley: santa runin 2022 The Foundation still being unsure of The financial viability of The event decided to allow The mayor's office of The city of san jose The rights to produce The santa run. The Foundation assisted The mayor's office by allowing use of copyright, trademark, social media sites, website and performed marketing to aid in boosting participation.
Building community: heart & soles The Foundation established The heart & soles run in The spring of 2014 to help raise money to support youth health and wellness programs throughout The region. In 2022 The event was able to return with an in-person format after two years of a pandemic forced virtual only race. The event was able to attract 1400 participants and donate $15,000 to our benefiting organizations boys and girls clubs of Silicon Valley, Silicon Valley ymca, and santa clara county office of education.
